The Scottish Government announced on 23 February that it will move towards making the use of edoc mandatory in Scotland, and will consider inclusion of transfrontier shipment of waste and hazardous waste in edoc. The announcement was made as part of the Scottish Government’s new circular economy strategy “Making Things Last”.

A timetable for placing edoc on a statutory footing in Scotland will be developed as part of the broader implementation of “Making Things Last”, in liaison with other UK administrations, following the Scottish Parliament elections in May 2016.
