edoc System Updates

Recent changes in regulation have required two system updates to edoc, as follows:

1. Local Government Reform in Northern Ireland

2. European Waste Catalogue Change

1. Local Government Reform in Northern Ireland

On 1st April 2015, changes were made to local government boundaries in Northern Ireland following the Local Government (Boundaries) Order (Northern Ireland) 2012. This saw the reduction of 26 councils to 11 with the aim of improving efficiency and delivering more effective services. More information on the boundary changes can be found here:

NI Boundaries

The change was immediately represented in edoc allowing businesses to select their local authority from the list of 11 consolidated authorities rather than the previous 26. The edoc team are available to provide any support to users in relation to the boundary change. Please use the contact us section to get in touch.

2. European Waste Catalogue Change

Also known as the List of Waste (LOW), the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) classifies waste materials by type and origin. edoc users must specify the full six digit EWC code on all waste transfer notes to accurately describe the waste. The EWC is being amended to bring it in line with updated chemical classification requirements.

New technical guidance to support businesses to comply with changes to the EWC (WM3: Waste Classification – guidance on the classification and assessment of waste) was published on 14th May 2015. The new rules came into place on 1st June 2015 and the edoc system has been updated to accommodate the legislation accordingly. The only relevant code scheduled to be updated is as follows:

Existing code – 01 03 09 red mud from alumina production other than the wastes mentioned in 01 03 07

Arrow

New code – 01 03 09 red mud from alumina production other than the wastes mentioned in 01 03 10
